Volumetric weight is a calculation of your parcel’s weight based on its length, width and height.
Parcel weights are calculated on a volumetric basis based on both weight and dimensions so the volumetric weight of your parcel may be greater than the actual weight itself.
These measurements try to normalise the cost of shipments in which the size is proportionally larger in comparison to the real weight. That is, the space items occupy in a delivery vehicle.
How do you get the volumetric weight? Using the following formula:
(Length x Width x Height) / N*
*The value of "N" varies according to on the carrier. For more information, check the maximum size and weight article.
